Back To School 2016 Outfit Ideas

Hey guys!

This will be my first post on Back To School preparation! For some of you, school will be starting soon after the summer break! Hence, it’s definitely important to update our wardrobe and look stylish on our first day. Who knows you may see a cutie at school this semester? Better be ready!

  1. Casual Pop of Color

My first idea is definitely a classic for this summer. Firstly, I have the trending knit lace-up white crop top that everyone has been raving about! And of course with every crop top, there is always a denim high waist shorts. The one I have selected is the short with really adorable decals on it, which is part of the new Zara collection. Now, we can’t be too exposing in school (or can we;) so I added this floral black kimono with the cute detailing on the bottom. P.S: if you do not have a kimono in your wardrobe yet, GET ONE!

I have selected this amazing maroon velvet platform shoes to match the red floral prints. Nothing beats a freaking velvet platform shoe! However if you want to go for a more formal look, you can instead wear platform black & white sandals to jazz up the look.

You definitely can’t forget your school bag. I recommend the classic Kanken maroon bag as it not only is stylish, but also big enough to contain your textbooks. Also, the straps feel comfortable on your shoulders.

To finish the look, we can’t forget accessories. If you follow Korean fashion trends, you will notice that the round black glasses have been in trend. So if you want to add something extra, go ahead and try them on. As for necklace, you can’t go wrong with the classic black choker with a short chain below.

  1. Girly Pastel Pink

My second idea is on the girlier side, but I love it! The top I chose is the white off shoulder chiffon blouse that is a must-have this summer. I paired it with a cute girly pink button up skirt that adds the girly vibe to the outfit. If you aren’t the feminine type of girl, feel free to change it up by using a denim blue button up skirt instead!

For the shoe, I chose the adorable pastel pink oxfords that I paired with white lace socks to make the outfit more “schoolgirl” ish.

The bag I have chosen is the Jansport floral printed bag. As a frequent Jansport user, I have to say that their bags are amazing! I’m pretty rough with my stuff, but my Jansport schoolbag have lasted for 3 years now and it’s still working great. For those in university who needs to bring their laptops to school often, I recommend getting the bag with the brown backing below for the safety of your laptops!

As for the accessory, I added a twist of edginess into the outfit by incorporating a ribbon choker. I’ve seen many raves about this and I must say, it looks awesome! TO complete the look, I added a super cute cat-eyed pink shades.

An extra item that I would recommend is the Kylie lip tint that everyone has been so crazy about. My most favorite color is candy K and I love it! So I would recommend this color as it goes along with the outfit perfectly.

3. Badass Superhero

Now, my third Back To School look is for those fandom girls who want to wear their fandom, but yet still look fashionable. As I’m a DC fan, I took the DC fandom items and add little spin to it in order to make the outfit look fashionable.

For the top, I chose the camel colored crop top with the words “Disobey” on it. In my case, this is perfect for those people who are into DC (especially suicide squad!). However if you are into some other fandoms like Supernatural or Game of Thrones, feel free to choose a different fandom shirt that represents it best. To add a fashionable twist to this outfit, I paired the top with a denim jumpsuit. As many of you know, there is a huge trend throughout the world for jumpsuits! Hence, it adds a little fun yet stylish touch to this outfit.

As for shoes, you definitely need to add your fandom high tops to your shopping list! In my case, I paired the outfit with the batman and superman high tops (one each). If any of you have watched Superman VS batman, please comment below on whom you are biased towards! I’m a batman kind of girl.  I also threw in a super cool batman ring and a snapback with “Geek” written on it.

As for the bag, I incorporated the Harley Quinn backpack form Hot Topic, as I’m a huge fan of Suicide Squad. If you haven’t watched it, you should definitely add it to your to-do list!

If you don’t have a fandom or is too shy to wear your fandom out, you can always style the denim jumpsuit with other crop tops. However, there’s nothing to be shy about showing your fandom to everyone! Who knows maybe you might find someone on the same boat and make a new friend!

4. Flannel Craze

My fourth back to school look is all about FLANNELS!! Flannel is an item that is an absolute necessity to have n your wardrobe. It can literally make any plain tops look fashionable and jazz up any outfits! I am one of the people guilty of having too many flannels in my wardrobe, but it’s still somehow never enough.

Firstly, I paired the classic red flannel button up with an awesome black “Normal is Boring” tank top. As for the bottom, I tucked the tank top into the ripped denim blue jeans. As it might get hot in the summer, you can switch the jeans up with some shorts.

At the sites, I added some different styles of wearing the flannel

  1. As a top
  2. As an outer layer
  3. As a dress
  4. Tie around the waist

These four ways make use of the same flannel but gives completely different vibe to the outfit. That’s the magic of flannels!

The perfect shoe for this outfit would be a pair of red Adidas High Tops. This baby may be a little difficult to find, but it’s definitely worth the investment. I also styled the outfit with the classic round sunglasses that is extremely popular currently. Furthermore, I could not resist putting this super cure “Pretty little things” black iPhone cover that adds to the vibe of this outfit.

As for the finishing touches, I used the neat looking galactic Vans backpack. Why? Just because it looks FANTASTIC!

Now, here is some of my personal interpretation of Back To School Outfits 2016. I am using the same black ribbed crop top and styled it in three different ways.

That’s all for the Back To School Outfit ideas guys! Let me know in the comments below which is your favorite or what other ideas do you guys have. I will be doing a few more back to school posts, so please look forward to them! Do follow me on Polyvore and Instagram.

Different Types of Fashion (USA edition)

Hey guys!

I’m back with the USA edition of Different Types of Fashion. Firstly, I would like to apologize for this pretty short post. As I have only visited and lived in certain parts of America, I can only review the fashion in those parts. If I were to review other parts of USA that I’ve never been to, that would mean that I am just basing the fashion from Google images. Hence, I want to stay true to you guys and only review the areas I have been too! However, if there are certain areas that you guys want me to review, then go ahead and comment down below! I would try to visit the areas and write another post about it.

  1. Bay Area (CA)

I have lived in the bay area, California for a total of 2 years now and I must say, their fashion is really cozy yet stylish. Having lived in California for a while now, I feel that people there tend to wear comfortable clothing made of really soft materials. They are all about comfort in motion! However despite that, they are still able to look fashionable.

Evernote Camera Roll 20160717 001102(2)

During these two seasons, it gets a little hotter. Their staples would be shorts of course, jumpsuits and dress. Shorts would definitely go with cute crop tops. Dresses and rompers are a must in bay area as it is comfortable, easy to wear, and stylish! Dresses tend to be floral prints and skater while rompers tend to be tribal-printed. If you are planning to travel to bay area, make sure to pack some!

Evernote Camera Roll 20160717 001102(3)

It is all about JACKETS! Due to the cold temperature, #jacketislifeduringwinter. You definitely cannot go wrong with a cute khaki green jacket or a cool leather jacket. These are not only fashionable, but also comfortable.

Evernote Camera Roll 20160718 032700(6)

Basically, any comfortable shoe is a necessity. It could be a sneaker or even a sports shoe. However if you want to go the extra mile, do bring along a pair of leather black boots, as it will go perfectly with your leather jacket!

  1. New York

Here comes the most fashionable city I’ve ever been to. New Yorkers literally walk out of their homes looking like they are walking on the red carpet in Oscars. If you are planning to visit New York, be prepared to bring your MOST STYLISH clothing!

Evernote Camera Roll 20160717 001102(7)

Dress is a crucial part of the New Yorkers fashion during spring & summer. And I don’t mean the summery floral dress that I mentioned above. I meant the chic semi-formal dresses. Other than dresses, there is also the formal pencil skirt which can make any casual tops looks chic.

Evernote Camera Roll 20160717 001102(8).jpg

As I’ve said, jacket is life. But in NY, there is a classic jacket that you absolutely MUST have. That is their signature trench coat. A cream-colored trench coat looks chic with almost everything in your wardrobe; hence it is a must-have if you are going to NY. It will jazz up anything that you wear!

In order to match your fashionable clothing, you definitely need a pair of bombshell heels! A good pair of heels will finish your look magically.

  1. Los Angeles (CA)

“I’m waking up on Sunset Boulevard,

Maxing out all my credit cards

Living my own LA Story

Livin it up ‘till the morning”

                                                                                    -Sammy Adams (L.A Story)

LA is my favorite part of USA because of their sunny weather and fashion. As the temperature is generally very high, shorts are your number one best friends. LA is all about shorts and the way your jazz them up. A classic would be crop tops or tank tops. But you can always step it up with a graphic tee or throw on a flannel to add colors to your outfits. Last of all, you certainly cannot forget the LA girls’ best friend, Sunnies, be it an aviator or a round sunglasses.

In LA, gladiator or tribal sandal will add the perfect touch to your outfits. With them, you can run around the sandy beach without having sand in your shoes!

Different types of fashion in different countries (Asian Edition)

Hey Guys!

I’m really sorry for the late post! I’ve been traveling to China, HK, Macau and many other places during the past two weeks and fell really sick. Hence, i was unable to write much. But now I’m back in action and will start writing again.

As a frequent traveler, I’m sure many of us have noticed how different fashion can be in other countries. Even neighboring countries like Singapore and Indonesia have completely different sense of fashion! When I’m traveling, i always have the mindset to “Do what the Roman does in Rome” as i would like to blend in with the crowd and not attract unnecessary attention in a foreign country! Hence, this post will be about all the different types of fashion in the various countries i have often traveled to. With this information, i hope that everyone would be more informed on what kind of clothes to bring when you go to these countries while traveling!

P.S : the fashion style I’m covering is the casual street style and is my own interpretations of fashion. Also, none of the pictures are mine:)

  1. Korea

Now for those who have read my previous post, you will know that I’m in love with Korean make up products and fashion too! So far, i found that the Korea fashion is my favorite.

The Korean fashion generally follows the K-pop fashion, hence the picture of fx really says it all. Their style is more casual and plain, meaning their outfits are less colorful and patterned. Some staples in their wardrobes would be a jersey jacket, shades and a cool snapback. During the winter, a pair of warm fuzzy cardigan is a classic to keep warm. Most of their outfits tend to be black& white.

Of course, their classic shoes are casual sporty looking shoes.

Recommended Korean online shopping: Yesstyle

2. Japan

The Japanese fashion is a whole other world! Instead of going for the cool sporty look, they tend to go for the cute and fluffy vibe. There is no better or worse, it’s just a matter of preference. Basically, anything kawaii is a necessity there.

Their outfits tend to be more colorful, patterned and have frills. A pastel-colored cardigan is also a staple especially for the cold weather in Japan. For a more sophisticated look, they love to go for the fedora hats (which i love!) . Their classic shoe is the lace up boots with frilly socks. And of course, everything is pastel-colored!

3. Hong Kong

When you enter HK, be prepared to be amazed by their stylish outfits. Not only that, literally everyone walking around there is dressed so well and amazing. They definitely live up to their name as a home to many fashion outlets.

HK loves anything fashionable and keeps up to the trends every year. Thus, their style is ever-changing. They love anything ranging from colorful to black&white, patterned or plain. However, one thing for sure is that they love to have a pop of color in their shoes. And one of their staple shoes is the colorful, patterned high tops. If you go to HK, you will find gazillions of stores selling those types of shoes. They even have one with a HK flag logo on it!

Recommended HK shopping places: Tsim Sha Tsui, Mong kok

4. Mainland China

We definitely cannot skip China! They have a very casual, t-shirt oriented kind of fashion. Due to my dad’s business, i often travel to ShenZhen with him. I was very surprised by the huge shopping district that they have and how fashionable their clothes can be!

Their fashion is very casual and often involves different styles of t-shirt. If you think that there is only one type of t-shirt, you are certainly wrong! China sells so many types of t-shirts with so many different patterns. And they love colorful and patterned clothing. However right now, China is going through the craze of slip-on shoes. They come in every shape, colors and patterns! It has a definitely become a staple shoes in every Chinese girl’s wardrobe. I even bought one from China and it looks gorgeous!

Recommended Shenzhen shopping places:Luo Hu, Lao Jie

5. Singapore

Having been living in Singapore for a really long time, i am speechless at the Singapore fashion. Despite being a little red dot, they have a very different types of fashion. Personally, this is one of my favorite casual fashion style.

shorts, SHorts, SHORTS! That is the key word to Singapore’s fashion. Due to the hot, humid weather, everyone literally walks around with shorts, especially high-waisted ones. Hence, having shorts of different colors and types is a must in Singapore. They prefer darker colors like burgundy as compared to bright pastel ones. On a casual day, it would be just a crop top and high-waisted shorts as these are a must to have. On more formal days, it would be a button-down chiffon top and high-waisted shorts again!

As for shoes, it would either be a chunky black boots or everyone’s best friend, converse!

Recommended SG shopping places:Bugis Street, Far East Plaza

Evernote Camera Roll 20160718 032659(7)1c3adf8356553d1fea3ae6b9e8dc0786

5. Indonesia/ Jakarta.

I certainly won’t forget my home country! Indonesia’s fashion is the complete opposite of Singapore’s. Instead of going for the casual shorts look, they love the formal sophisticated look. And when i  mean formal, it is REALLY FORMAL. Now don’t  get me wrong. I do love it! It is just a different type compared to others.

When you walk into the malls in Jakarta(especially Plaza Indonesia), be prepared to be awed by their fashion. In Jakarta malls, everyone mostly dress in chiffon clothing, formal pants/skirt and certainly no t-shirts. They would be holding a branded bag, branded shoe and wearing thick make up. it is an entirely different type of fashion, but yet still pleasing and classy. A staple for us Indonesians would be various colored chiffon tops, cute formal pants and skirts. Indonesians prefer plain outfits with the exception of floral prints. Floral prints is a must-have.

As for shoes, no sports shoe or sneakers please. It can only be heels or our favorite flats!

Recommended Jakarta shopping places: ITC Mangga Dua, Central Park

9 Steps to achieving the perfect K-pop star skin

Hey guys!

Now,  i am gonna address a topic that is always in the back of our minds. Have you ever wondered how the hell Korean pop stars have those majestic smooth skin? Look at SNSD Yoona or IU or even 2PM Nickhun. Almost all Kpop stars have those perfect skin which me always makes me wonder what is the difference with their skin from mine? is it genetics? Well, now i am going to reveal the secret behind those desirable skin!

The very first step to achieving our goal is skincare. If you are like me, you would have googled and surfed a thousand and one sites on skincare routines, watched zillion youtube skincare routine videos and tried countless beauty products. However, each of our skin is different, hence different routines work for different people. In fact, watching so many skincare videos just makes me confused as every one is different.

Now, the skincare routine that i am about to recommend has worked for me for 3 years so far and i have compared many websites before creating this routine. Since i am an asian, this routine should work better on asian skin as compared to others. However, everyone is free to try!

Here is an overview of the skincare routine:

  1. Double Cleansing ( Morn& Night)
  2. Toner ( Morn& Night)
  3. Exfoliate( Once a week)
  4. Essence ( Morn& Night)
  5. Serum ( Morn& Night)
  6. Facial Mask ( Once a week)
  7. Eye cream & Lip Butter ( Morn& Night)
  8. Moisture, Moisture, MOISTURE! ( Morn& Night)
  9. Sleeping Mask/ Night Cream (Optional)

  1. Double Cleansing ( Morn& Night)

This is by far the most important step in this whole routine. Many of us including me have had this misconception since young that we can remove our make up just by using cleansing foam. This is WRONG. In fact, cleaning make up with foam may even damage our skin. This double cleansing step involves a cleansing oil and then a cleansing foam.

Firstly, pour a little of the cleansing oil on a cotton pad and wipe all the make up off your face. If you are using eye liner, use a cotton bud to remove the eyeliner so as to not damage your eye area. Next, rinse off all the oil with water.

Then, take the cleansing foam and dab it on the cross section of your face. Next, spread the foam throughout your face in a circular motion. Afterwards, rinse with water. Your face will feel really clean and fresh after all that cleansing!

The product that i strongly recommend is The Face Shop Rice Water Bright Cleansing Oil & Foam. These two comes in pairs and they work like magic. Not only that, they smell so sweet and calming. I have used them for forever and they are pretty cheap (about $10 and $9 on amazon) so i strongly recommend them

2. Toner ( Morn& Night)

Okay, toner is very essential in this routine as it adds an extra security to ensure our make up and dirt is all gone. This is very helpful especially for those with oily and acne-prone skin.

Firstly, pour a little of toner onto a cotton pad and use it to wipe your entire face. This shall leave your face feeling very refreshed. Let dry for 2-3 min

The toner i am recommending is a cheaper option from Etude House Wonder Pore Freshner. I just changed my toner recently to this and it has been working pretty well for me. It cost only about $18 on amazon for the giant bottle(500 ml). However, i recommend buying the smaller one as the huge one is inconvenient to carry for a frequent traveler like myself.

The alternate toner that is slightly more pricey is the Nature republic 90% Aloe Vera Toner(160 ml for $12 on amazon) and Innisfree Rose Clear Skin. I personally have not tried these, but my friends have and they mentioned that these are as good. However, they are a little on the pricey side, so as a college student, i tend to go for the cheaper option. But if any of you have tried it, do tell me how it works out.

3. Exfoliate( Once a week)

This is basically the step that make this routine differ from many others. Exfoliation is extremely important as it clears away our dead skin and ensures that our face stays healthy! However, be warned that you should not do this everyday. I would recommend once every week and remember, as troublesome as it sounds, don’t skip it!

The product i have been using is the Skin Food Black Sugar Mask Wash Off. I have heard many excellent reviews on this product and i must say that i agree. Moreover, it only cost $8 for a small tub on amazon. Apply a layer of the product on your face using a circular motion and let it sit for 15 minutes. Then, rinse your face using the same action to exfoliate your skin. The aftereffect will be a supple and healthy skin.

4. Essence ( Morn& Night)

Having essence in your routine is extremely ESSENTIAL (haha get it:) Various essence have different functions and effects on your skin, but it overall helps with brightening skin complexion, age renewal or even skin firming. Personally, i am still a teenager so i use the Etude House Pearl Aura Brightening Essence( $23 on amazon). At first, i did not notice much difference  until i have used the product for at least 3 months. My face really became MUCH brighter and whiter, hence, i strongly recommend this product as it really works. Just apply the product on the cross section of your face and spread it throughout with a circular motion. Let dry for 2-3 min

Other alternative would be the Missha Time Revolution First Treatment Essence. I have read many reviews and almost all recommends this essence. I personally have not tried it, but reviews don’t lie. However, the down side is that this is on the pricey side ($27 on amazon). Despite that, most essence are expensive so do consider that.

5.Serum ( Morn& Night)

Now,i know you are thinking what the heck is this and why is there so many steps. Bear with me because this step is also very crucial. Similar to essence, serum differs according to your skin types. Some would prefer serums for wrinkle while other prefer smooth skin, acne-prone skin, etc. Serum is like the vitamin that you give your skin everyday, so it is important to have one in your routine.

The serum that i have used is the Skin Food Peach Sake Pore Serum($11.49 on amazon). Apply it on the cross section of your face and spread it with a circular motion. Let dry for 3 min

My only comment for this product is that IT SMELLS AMAZING! It’s like applying peach perfume all over your face and the best thing is, my skin feels so smooth after using this. It is an immediate effect! As i have an oily skin, this serum is specialized to cover my pores and reduce the oil produced on my skin. So for those with oily skin, this serum is the one for you.

An alternative would be the Missha Time Revolution Night Repair Science Activator Ampoule Serum($27 on amazon). This works together with the Missha Time Revolution First Treatment Essence and it helps with wrinkles, whitening of skin and moisture.

6. Facial Mask ( Once a week)

I know this takes a pretty long time, but IT’S WORTH IT. Facial mask is definitely your holy grail to getting the glowy dewy skin. The good news is you only have to use it once a week! Just gently peel off the mask from the package and place it on your face for 20 min.

The facial mask that i recommend is definitely the Etude House I Need You Mask Sheet (20 pcs for $27 on amazon). These not only feels good on your face, it actually smells good. After using these masks, my face definitely feel much softer and brighter. Now if you are on budget and wants to only buy a few, my favourite masks are the aloe, collagen, pearl and rice.

If you want to spice things up a little, there is always the famous Face Shop Character Masks( 5 pcs for $11.10 on amazon). I have tried it a couple of times with friends and it is guaranteed to jazz up your girl’s night!

7. Eye cream & Lip Butter

I think this is pretty self-explanatory as we need to take care of our eyes and lips. I have been using the Skin Food Salmon Brightening Eye Cream for a while and BEWARE, IT DOES NOT WORK. Instead i would recommend the Kiehls Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado($60 on amazon) and Fresh Rose Hydrating Eye Gel Cream($41 on sephora) . I have not tried both products but have heard good reviews and am planning to try Fresh first just because it’s a little cheaper. I will give an update on this blog once i have tried them!

The correct way to use an eye cream is to dip three fingers into the product and rub it on the three fingers on your other hand. Next, dab it onto your eye area using gentle tapping motion. Do not rub it on your under eyes as it would be less effective for absorption.

The lip butter that i highly recommend is the Fresh Sugar Nourishing Lip Balm($30 in nordstrom). Apply this before you use any lip product or sleep to ensure that you don’t end up with dry lips! Although it is on the pricey side, i strongly recommend it as it works very well especially since my lips are very dry and peels off often.

8. Moisture, Moisture, MOISTURE! ( Morn& Night)

This last step is definitely the most important of all. Everyone needs a good moisturizer to keep our skin hydrated and don’t be afraid to spend a little more on this one. The product that i recommend is the Etude House Moistfull Collagen Cream($25 on amazon). After changing about 7 moisturizers, i am clearly hooked onto this one. This keep my face very hydrated and moist throughout the day, which is a feat considering California’s dry weather. However the best part about this product is that it does not leave my face sticky and gross. Many of my previous moisturizer makes my face looks sticky and wet after applying make up over it, but this one actually has a dry and clean finish! So i highly recommend this product.

9. Sleeping Mask/ Night Cream (Optional)

This is an optional step but still recommended to achieve those glowy skin. The sleeping pack/ night cream serve as a second layer of moisturizing to ensure that your face is fully hydrate when you go to sleep. It also helps seal in the moisture into your face. The product that i recommend for this is the Laneige Water Sleeping Mask($24 on amazon), This item smells super good and does the best job in locking in the moisture. On top of that, it helps to detoxify and purify your face. What else is there to ask for?

Diet & Hydration

Achieving the perfect smooth skin does not only rely on a good skincare routine. Your diet and hydration also plays a key role. I only have two advice for this:

I’m not saying completely don’t eat them. I myself am guilty for being a sucker for fried food, McDonalds and potato chips, so i do understand the pain of avoiding them! However as much as possible, do reduce your intake of oily food as it does a damaging effect on yous skin and also body weight. Instead, go for grilled food and fruits.

There is only so much that those moisturizers can do. It is very important to keep yourself and your skin hydrated by drinking water. Make water your BEST FRIEND, because you have to drink at least 8 glasses of water per day and that’s the minimum!

Finally! That’s a very long post but thank you for reading! I am sure that if you guys follow these steps, it is only a matter of time before you achieve those beautiful smooth skin. Of course, a lot of those K-pop star photos have got to do with photo shop and make up, but the base of your skin has to be smooth and hydrated first in order to look extra good in make up:)

Please do tell me if you guys have tried other products and would like to recommend. I am all open to comments and feedback:) See you guys in my next post.

Hey guys!

This is my very first post, hence i shall give a brief introduction about myself and this blog. I am just an ordinary girl who loves fashion and hopes to share my fashion tips and ideas to the world. I am neither those types of tumblr girls who are extremely photogenic nor am i those girls who loves taking cool photos. In fact, i would not call myself the popular dream girl many aspires to be. I am just me, a 19-years old Asian girl who aspires to be a blogger.

If i can only use a word to describe myself, it would be fun! i love hanging out with friends and even bingewatching Supernatural. On top of that, i am a sucker for korean dramas and their sob stories. I am an indonesian girl currently studying in UCLA (california). However, i have lived my whole life in Singapore, so i guess I’m a mix of everything.

Lastly, this blog is basically a platform for me to share my beauty/fashion tips to all of you, more directed towards Asian girls. Also, i will occasionally post random posts on life in general too! I’m really excited to be starting this blog.
